The expectations I had of this movie were mixed.
On the one hand, judging by the poster I didn't think it was going to be to good
(The fact that Matthew McConaughey was in it didn't exactly improve the situation),
but on the other hand the plot was so intriguing and weird, I simply had to watch it anyway.
And again my curiosity rewarded me with an interesting and entertaining 90 minutes.

The film is basically about Matthew McConaughey’s character being the only average sized person in a family of "little people",
including his twin brother Gary Oldman. (Yes Gary Oldman plays a little person! I had to look twice at first because he looked so different.)
The surprising thing is that the movie is strange and quirky. It has such a different approach to little people and their lives.
For once, they're not portrayed as circus people, but as normal. Even though some would not call the life of the characters in this movie very normal.
I guess that's what I liked about it!
The conclusion is, you will definitely have an enjoyable movie experience if you watch Tiptoes.

Hello my good friends and imaginary fans! Algo Sanom is back for another Monday session at the 35th of May factory.
Today will be the 2nd journey into the world where music acts as an essential ingredient in everyday scenarios.
What I want to do is discuss what role, and what effect music has in different situations and with different people. Since Me & Moi tuned in to the Nobel concert held in Obama’s honor the day before last, I thought it would be fitting to discuss what Music does for Politics!
I remember the facial expressions on the collaborating artists doing M.J´s “We are the world”. And not only because they look really funny, but also because I remember that it didn’t feel like just another song and clearly people were affected by it. The single sold 20 million copies worldwide and raised over 63 million USD donated to humanitarian aid in Africa and the US. 63 MILLION DOLLARS!! ONE SONG!!
Clearly the effects of music in politics should not be underestimated. It’s really nice when it’s being used correctly like in that case. Respect, Michael!
I think we saw about 8 music concerts during the time of Obama’s election. Most of the acts seen were American. Needless to say, they were all promoting Obama’s politics like they were one of the apostles to Jesus Christ! Stevie Wonder was warming up his vocal cord by singing ooooOOBAAaaamaaaa!! That kind of energy by popular music definitely played an important role in his victory.
Politicians always used musicians as tools for their cause but there are also politicians disguised as musicians! Anybody from Erykah Badu, Bob Marley, Dead Prez, Billie Holiday to Bob Dylan, John Lennon and even Tenacious D all have political messages in their music.


Many people react negatively towards politically active musicians, others build their own opinions solely through their favorite artists. Whatever the case may be, I love it! Freedom of speech, freedom of music, freedom of life!

This is again one of those movies, where you don't really know what to expect, but it gives you the feeling it might actually be good.
I guess the best way to explain it is like a costume, 90s version of Dude, Where's my car.
Does that sound strange?
Well, you're right!
This film is hilarious and strange in a smart way. A must see!

My first trip to cupcake land

So for the past two weeks I have been reading a lot about cupcakes.

I already have a permanent sweet tooth, but looking at all those amazing pictures and reading those mouth watering recipes, just made me crave a cupcake like never before. So since the Cupcake craze didn’t really get to this country yet, and there is no other way to satisfy my cravings, I decided to take the step and bake my own.

Never having baked cupcakes before I was slightly nervous, so I had to remind myself that my kitchen adventures usually turn out ok.

I decided to do a moist double chocolate cupcake filled with Milk chocolate ganache and topped with white chocolate frosting. I made this flourless chocolate cake recipe before, and served it in cupcake forms to control the inside runniness.

That version was a hit every time I made it, and since I was going for a moist and melty inside, I chose to go with that for my cupcake base.

The second ingredient I was craving was white chocolate. A quick Google search revealed plenty of nice and simple recipes for me to try out.


So here are the results…

The flourless cake idea wasn’t as good as I thought it would be.

It tastes amazing by itself but together with the frosting it was just too rich for my taste.

Well and the frosting wasn’t good at all. It didn’t taste like white chocolate and was too sweet even though I didn’t put any sugar in it.

I think the reason that the frosting didn’t turn out right, was that I bought cheap white chocolate, and honestly even pure didn’t have anything in common with white chocolate at all. So I will eat the cakes and the ganache by their delicious self’s, and save the icing for my next baking project.


We’ll see what that is gonna be…
