Usually I don’t review products this fast. Generally I have items laying around for a while waiting in queue until the rest of the items I am testing are finished. Makeup products fare better since I generally never have much testing to do. I guess that is the good part about not buying that much makeup, there is always a free slot!
Even then I usually test makeup for about 7 days in different conditions to make sure I can say something specific and answer questions. Often it takes me forever to take the pictures of it on my face. I don’t like posting makeup reviews without posting a whole look. The reason this takes so long is that either the weather isn’t collaborating, or that my hair just doesn’t look right. If it doesn’t, I don’t like taking pics, if I don’t have fun the pictures turn out mediocre. I believe you can actually tell which ones I enjoyed taking and which ones I didn’t, so I made a rule of only taking look pictures when I feel its right!
Any who, long story short.
I received this shadow last week and within days I had all the photos taken and there was even a day of sunshine. Luckily I felt happy and thought my hair was acceptable for the look I was going for.
I guess that makes this shadow special since I was super pumped to speed test this thing (aka use it everyday instead of once a week for a month) and write the review lickity split.
I realised that Cherry had a shade of pink (is it pink even, more like salmon maybe?) that I have been wanting for a while and that that specific set was matte!
Wooo, I said and used my points at Beautynetkorea and got it immediately.
I am so happy I did since the palette is even prettier in person. Not sure if you can even tell how nice it looks!
Well, as usual the packaging is very pretty, and the back of the box was a cute surprise.
The plastic is sturdy and doesn’t feel like it will break within 5 minutes in my makeup bag.
The shadows are soft and finely milled. The salmon shade is buttery and completely matte. The brown is a medium brown with really pretty pink pearl shimmer. It isn’t normal shimmer but the kind of shadow that changes color in the light. I have a similar brown with pink shimmer I always liked but the shimmer is really strong and glittery and I thought it was too much on my eyes. This on the other hand is very decent but super pretty! Both colors go lovely together and separately.
Both of them bring light to my eye and the salmon shade makes me look super fresh!
The shadow is sheer but layers really well. The pink is visible on my NC25-30 skin without looking overtly fake.
The brown looks sort of dry and dull on the photo but it looks really pretty in real life! |
It applies wonderfully with the fingers or brushes and lasting times is excellent without any primers. It did not move around on my non oily lids but some other shadows have done that in the past.
I would say that the lasted perfectly well for about 6-7 hours without fading.
I haven’t used them longer than that though.
I can only imagine that their lasting power is even longer if you would try, specially with a primer.
I am very happy with both the shades and the quality of this shadow, specially considering the price! It says that it is a special edition so if you are interested make sure to pick it up while its around.
Please don't judge the photos below on its opacity since I used a very light layer of the shadows on purpose. On the lips I did indeed use quite a lot since I had to cover my dark lips first, which it did well incidentally. If you know a lipstick in this shade please let me know!
Light wash of the pink on the lid and a tiny bit of the brown on the outside corner |
I really like that fresh innocent look it gives me. It reminds me of Marie Antoinette, so I thought I would do a makeup look inspired by it using this palette as my only color products.
