This review is going to be less about the Dark Crystal, and more about Kira.
Oh my god I love Kira.
She was one of my first crushes when I was a kid.
Look at her!
|...so for me...|
So the Dark Crystal has always been one of my favorites, I've seen it 1,000 times.
If there's one thing I'd change, it'd be to introduce the character Kira sooner.
Also I would extend the movie about 3 hours to kinda give a bit more depth to the Kira character.
Other than that though, this movie remains perfect in every way.
The sets are absolutely gorgeous and it's some of the best puppet work I've ever seen.
Dark Crystal remains true to itself, it is what it is.
Nowadays when you want to make a children's movie you have to kiddie it down to the level of a 3 yr. or else it has to be PG-13.
This movie is scary as crap man, it scared the heck out of me as a kid and still does today!
|scarred for life :)|
What the heck are kids even fearing in their closets these days?
Dead cell phone batteries probably.
We were meant to be frightened!
We were meant for our imaginations to soar to wild places!
Jim Henson is one of my all time heroes and I love everything he's ever done and also I love Kira I'd marry her in a heartbeat.
Here's to "The Dark Crystal 2: The adventures of Kira a 6 month long film"
